Original Research

The Calm and Alert Class: Using Body, Mind and Breath to Teach the Self Regulation of Learning Related Social Skills (2010) documents an action research study Helene conducted in the pilot year, published by Education Resource Information Center.

A Case Study of Calm and Alert (2015) was conducted In by University of New England Graduate student, School of Social Work, Sydney Perkins.  Results of this program review were overwhelmingly positive.

Efficacy of a Mindfulness-Based Intervention (MBI) in Schools with a Clinical Population (2023) a presentation of a quasi-experimental study utilizing Calm and Alert as a protocol conducted by OT doctoral student Helen Russell from Elizabethtown College, documents improvement in many areas of regulation.

One School is a qualitative narrative of Helene's experience, since inception, of bringing the Calm and Alert practices to her public school, now a chapter in the book Stories of School Yoga
